Two internationally acclaimed actresses, Lea Salonga, and Dolly de Leon, known for their works in the theater and entertainment are set to star in the Philippine theater adaptation “Request sa Radyo” in October.
The play is a Filipino adaptation of “Wunschkonzert” or “Request Program” by Frank Xaver Kroetz. The story revolves around a woman who lives alone, and it centers on the themes of loneliness and isolation. “Request sa Radyo” will be performed solo, alternately, by the two stars from October 10 to 20, at the Samsung Performing Arts Theatre in Makati City, Philippines.

“When I was asked by Clint and Bobby if I was interested at all in this project, an experience that told a probable and possible story that absolutely applies to our people, I said sure, even before knowing the details. It will be a challenge though, but hopefully will lend a figurative voice to those who are suffering,” the Tony-award winner Lea Salonga said in an interview.
Aside from this new project, the Broadway diva fulfills another musical theater performance, “Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends” to be released next March 2025.
The Golden-Globe nominee, Dolly De Leon on the other hand said, “I’m so looking forward to coming back to my first love, the theater after five long years and I am equally excited that it is in ‘Request Sa Radyo’ – a play that is relevant and timely.”
After filming her casting in “Nine Perfect Strangers” with Nicole Kidman, Dolly will also be one of the cast for the upcoming Filipino series “Severino”, together with Dennis Trillo under Creazion Studios.
This groundbreaking news will mark a milestone for Philippine Theater as both are bound to tell stories in ways they can share their talents. Salonga and De Leon are expected to deliver top-notch acting masterclass which will delight audiences.
The adaptation theater performance will be produced and directed by TONY winner Clint Ramos, together with Bobby Garcia and Christopher Mohnani for Ayala Land and GMG Productions. It is set to premiere this October this year.
