Can you believe there are only four months left in 2024? Over those months, we were obsessed with different dance trends, and topics that had us laughing till our stomach aches.
Get ready for an amazing time machine experience because we’re going back to where these trends started this year.
January
Pantropiko Craze
Pantropiko, the hit summer anthem of the Nation’s Girl Group, BINI, has swept the entire nation. From its catchy lyrics to the addictive dance moves that turned everyone into a dancer, it’s clear that Pantopiko is the challenge most of us embraced.
It may have dropped last year but everytime the chorus hits the corner of the streets, even though we’re halfway 2024, it’s practically a dance floor magnet that’ll have you moving your hips.
The dance challenge also went viral internationally, boosting the song’s popularity and leading to BINI’s overseas performances. No one really escaped the Pantropiko Fever. It’s giving a timeless vibe, and shows how amazing it still holds its fame even after all this time.

Feb-ibig Less, Yes to TikTok Trends
The “Marikit sa Dilim Challenge” from Tiktok was the trend everyone joined several months ago. Dare I say huge chances everybody would want to dance to the song once they hear the subtle deep voice speaking “Tinitigan ko, nilapitan ko. Hanggang sa may diwata nang pagdilat ko.”
Without doubt, a lot of people on TikTok tried the challenge because it was super easy to follow. Simply by following the lyrics and putting your own take with the song, you are prepared to channel the vibe.
The beat of the song is so irresistible that it will instantly make you dance. This earned the TikTok challenge to go global. It caught the attention of K-pop idols, including TXT’s Yeonjun, Enhypen’s Heeseung, Aespa’s Giselle and Yeji from Itzy, &Team’s Nicholas, and Filipino-Argentine Lapillus member, Chanty.
March
Too Bad Not to Dance
From dance group AdHIKa, who appeared on World of Dance Philippines, another viral challenge was born. The trending dance craze “Too Bad Challenge,” featuring their iconic butterfly footwork, originated solely from their choreography and was widely enjoyed by TikTok dancers and users.
The song used on this trend is O Side Mafia’s “My Thang (Go Getta 2).” Some of the known artists who joined this challenge are Manu Torreno with DJ Loonyo, the three members of Femme MNL who also joined in World of Dance, the Kitty and Kakai Twins who are known for dancing while on gym’s treadmill, the Guerrero siblings Niana, Ranz Kyle, and Natalia, and also K-pop idols such as Enhypen’s Jungwon, RIIZE’s Shotaro, and others. March might be over, but the people who danced to this trend are still joining.
Shake Off That Jealousness
Are you one of the jealous peeps who have the song ‘Selos’ by Shaira stuck in their head? How can it not be stuck in our heads when it got its first #1 Spotify’s Viral 50 Chart for the Philippine on March, and entered #165 Spotify’s Top Songs Philippines. Despite facing a copyright claim from Australian singer-songwriter Lenka over her song, Shaira’s team successfully resolved the issue and returned the song to streaming platforms.
The song is about a person’s jealousy towards someone they love, who is in love with another person. The trend only started with simple jealous funny videos on TikTok, then it became popular because of the catchy tune and heartfelt lyrics that even Filipino make a choreo of it.
April
Less Selling, More Giggling
You might need to update your TikTok account if you haven’t been watching the witty and funny marketing strategies of different Philippine brands from the past four months. Viewers were undoubtedly hyped by the humorous content created by these brands because aside from promoting products and services, they’re also unleashing their inner comedian selves. This content serves as evidence of Filipinos’ creativity. This appears to be a fresh approach to advertising.
Transition to the Next Level
This month of April also fills us with the Asoka Makeup Trend that made some Filipino makeup artists and content creators challenge their creativity. During the peak of this trend, we witnessed diverse processes and outcomes that truly amazed and surprised us with the effort and creativity displayed by every content creator and makeup artist.
With their smooth-like-butter transition, you will see changes every time they move their hands. Some of the content creators who joined this trend are Lenie Aycardo, Fujicko, Criza Taa, Donnalyn Bartolome, Zeinab Harake, and others.
And because of the Asoka trend, other unique makeup transition contents like the “Piliin mo ang Pilipinas Transition Trend” continued to emerge. Among those who joined this trend were Tiktok content creators Bea Borres, Ivana Alawi, Riva Quenery, and many more. In case you don’t know, the name of the trend “Asoka” was from the 2001 Indian movie entitled “Asoka”. But, the song used in the trend is the “San Sanana” that was also the soundtrack from the movie.

Alden Ri-charge Energy
The Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) 2024 fever might not have cooled down yet! After the pageant competition and aside from the candidates, the hosting skills of Kapuso artist Alden Richards has gone viral because of his iconic energy vibe during the coronation night that matched the crowd. You’d think he drank an energy drink before going on stage for his hosting, given his energetic personality and effort during the pageant. Many viewers were so entertained by the artist’s presence and energy that they started making comedic videos based on Alden’s performance.
The Balancing Queen
After the announcement of the newly crowned MUPH 2024, the former MUPH 2023, Michelle Dee, finally passed her crown to Chelsea Manalo. We know what to expect from a coronation night, but this one is truly a night to remember because of how the crown passes.
Chelsea Manalo didn’t only give us a wonderful answer, but she also showed us how she doesn’t want someone to take away the crown from her even if it was not yet worn properly. She walked as the new Miss Universe Philippines while handling and balancing the crown effortlessly. Dare I say, Paris Olympians, beware as she might snatch yall’s gig! Well, Dee fixed it to make Chelsea comfortable walking on the stage. Many viewers got so impressed by her that they even made funny memes and other content.
